Plymouth-born diver Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow, who trains at the Plymouth Life Centre, have won bronze in the men’s 10-metre synchro event at Rio.
Councillor Glenn Jordan, Cabinet Member for Culture, said: “What an amazing result for Dan and Tom – and for Plymouth Diving. We’re so proud to have so many of our divers and swimmers representing Team GB out in Rio. They’ve all worked incredibly hard to be there and I’m sure the city is behind me in saying a massive ‘congratulations’ to our new Olympic bronze medallists.
“Well done too to Plymouth Leander swimmer Ruta Meilutyte, who did us proud in the finals of the women’s 100-metre breaststroke in the early hours.
“Good luck to Tonia Couch, who is competing with Lois Toulson in the women’s 10-metre synchro tonight and to swimmer Ben Proud in the men’s 100-metre freestyle qualifiers.”
