Joint statement from Councillor Ian Bowyer and Councillor Tudor Evans on vandalism of Michael Foot memorial
Councillor Ian Bowyer, Leader of Plymouth City Council, and Councillor Tudor Evans, Leader of the Opposition, said: “We utterly condemn this appalling act of vandalism on this memorial to one of Plymouth’s most famous sons, Michael Foot.
“The graffiti was reported to our Street Services team over the weekend and was cleared up straight away, and due to the offensive nature of the graffiti, it was also reported to police who are treating it as a hate crime.
“We will not tolerate any incidents of hate in Plymouth, and this includes offensive graffiti. We would strongly urge anyone to report similar incidents to the Council so it can be dealt with swiftly.”
