Our crews have been working hard to catch up following last week’s issues.
Most of the brown bins rounds have been collected as our teams worked extra hours on Friday and Saturday to try and catch up.
Crews are still working to clear any outstanding green bins that were missed, so if you haven’t had your recycling collected yet, please leave it out. We’re hoping to be fully caught up by tomorrow.
The disruption was caused after a number of refuse trucks were taken off the road for safety checks following two separate fires. They were given the all-clear to return to service today (Monday) after stringent checks by the vehicle’s manufacturer and an independent verifier.
Councillor Sue Dann, Cabinet Member for Street Scene and the Environment said: “I’d like to thank residents for bearing with us over the last week while we experienced disruption to our collections.
“We understand that the delays to collections inconvenienced our residents but these were circumstances beyond our control and the safety of our staff and residents is our number one priority. I’d also like to thank the entire street services staff who have worked extremely hard to catch up on the missed collections, it really was a team effort.”
