Plymouth Road update: December 2019

Here’s a quick update on the works at Plymouth Road.

We’ve been working on several different bits junctions at once so that we can get the scheme completed as quickly as we possibly can.

Marsh Mills
Passers-by will see the new lane has been dug out and that the cycle lane again has reopened. There are loads of utilities in this area so the next stage here is for all of the different companies to come in and re-route their wires and cables to suit the layout of the new road.

Cot Hill
Good news and bad news here. The bad news is that we haven’t yet made a start on building the extended right turn. The good news is that this means we’ve been able to keep the right turn open (we previously said we’d need to close it) and will be able to keep it open until the New Year. We’re also using this opportunity to get on with changes to the pavement on the Plympton-bound carriageway.

Larkham Lane
The southbound section has now reopened and work has started on the northern side. We’re arranging for a night closure to take down the old mast arm traffic lights at this junction. More details on this when we get it.

St Mary’s car park
On Monday, we’re going to white-line the car park near the site compound. This will make things clearer for both people parking their cars and also for site traffic while making it safer for pedestrians. The car park will be shut for the day while we get this done.

The final piece of good news is that from Christmas Eve, all cones will be off the road across the scheme until the New Year. The teams will be back on Thursday 2 January.

Thanks so much for your patience while we get on with this scheme. It is appreciated.

Merry Christmas from all of the team!
