The southbound side of Tavistock Road (heading towards the city centre) will be closed under the Crownhill flyover for four nights from Wednesday 26 October.
Essential structural repairs need to be carried out on the bridge after it was hit by an abnormal load on Monday 24 October.
The road will be closed between Farm Foods and Morshead Road from 7pm to 6am on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
All vehicles will be diverted via Crownhill Road and Forder Valley. (Local traffic will still be able to get onto Tavistock Road from Morshead Road.)
Signs will be in place and advance messages displayed on roadside digital boards to warn drivers about the works.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible or find alternative routes.
