With just one week to go before the 20 April registration deadline for the general election Plymouth City Council is calling for anyone who isn’t yet registered to go online and do so at www.gov.uk/registertovote
Local and national campaigns have been running over the last few months to remind voters that they can’t take part in the election unless they have registered.
Each voter now has to register separately, rather than by household as previously.
Research shows that recent home movers, young people, students and those from certain BME communities are all less likely to be registered to vote.
The aim of the campaigns has been to tell people that people can register online. This is the first general election where this has been possible.
The registration deadline is at midnight on Monday 20 April 2015.
