UPDATE AM: FRIDAY 2 MARCH
Due to the icy weather conditions we are focusing on providing critical services in order to protect the safety of residents and staff. This means many services are providing only essential cover.
Critical services include making sure our vulnerable adults and children remain safe.
However, some non critical services are now open.
CONTACTING THE COUNCIL
Our 1st Stop Shop in New George Street and Contact Centre are currently open.
All the primary and secondary routes have been gritted and a clear.
Side roads and pavements are icy so take great care if deciding to venture out.
Check with bus and train operators before attempting to travel.
Our Street Services teams are out and about gritting to ensure access to essential services and buildings.
We have experienced problems ploughing and gritting some roads due to parked cars blocking access for large vehicles. Please make sure you leave enough room for gritters and emergency vehicles.
Our bin crews have done a great job getting as many of the rounds sorted as possible this week but a few streets will have been missed due to icy conditions.
We will aim to get round to collect remaining bins as soon as possible but the crews are not operating today due to the icy conditions in side streets and back lanes and the closure of Chelson Meadow.
Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill sites are currently closed due to the icy conditions.
