Children can feed their minds and tummies this summer as our library service joins up with CATERed and its Big Summer Food Tour for Lunch at the Library.
Every Wednesday in August at Devonport Library, St Budeaux Library and a pop-up library at the Four Greens Centre in Whitleigh, children and families can enjoy a day of activities and get a free lunch from CATERed.
Activities will run from 10am until 4pm and include the Summer Reading Challenge, crafts, digital making, coding and more. There will also be special guests including Dartmoor Zoo, the Theatre Royal, National Marine Aquarium, Shark Trust, Plymouth Music Zone, Devon and Cornwall Police, Cats Protection and authors Tom Palmer and Emma Carlisle. Every week, the first 100 children at each venue will also be given a free book to take home and keep.
Councillor Glenn Jordan, Cabinet Member for Culture said: “Holiday Hunger can be a real problem for families throughout the summer. We hope that by joining up with CATERed to offer free lunches we can help families who may struggle. We are also keen to encourage children and families into the library, especially those who may not have visited for a while and who may be surprised at the range of services and activities now on offer.”
