Lunch at the library is back

Our libraries service is feeding minds and tummies again this summer by joining in with CATERed’s Big Summer Food Tour for Lunch at the Library.

Every Wednesday in August, children pick up a free lunch and join in with family friendly activities at their local library.

Lunch will be provided at all Plymouth libraries and the pop-up library in Whitleigh. Free activities will take place between 10am and 4pm including the Summer Reading Challenge, crafts, stories and films.

Special guests this year include the Plymouth Playwriters, Babcock, Cats Protection, Dogs Trust, Devon and Cornwall Police, the Plymouth Astronomical Society and many more.

Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said “Holiday Hunger can be a real problem for many families in Plymouth and by joining in with CATERed’s Big Summer Food Tour, we can help those who may struggle to provide food and entertainment for children over the long summer holiday.

“There’s a great line up of free and fun activities on offer and we hope that Lunch at the Library will encourage more people to visit their local library and see what’s available all year round.”

Lunches will be given out in libraries between 12 noon and 2pm on a first come first served basis. For more information about Lunch at the Library and full details of activities visit www.plymouth.gov.uk/lunchatthelibrary
