Lord Mayor Designate, Councillor Mrs Wendy Foster has announced that Councillor Nick Kelly will be her Deputy Lord Mayor when she takes office in May.
Councillor Kelly, who represents Moor View ward, works as an independent financial advisor. Born in Plymouth he attended Plymstock School, where he is now an academy governor.
Having started his career as a quantity surveyor initially, he was involved in the construction of Weston Mill Lake Jetty and the refurbishment of the Royal Citadel.
He was elected as a councillor in May 2015, has served on the Licensing, Planning and Taxi Licensing Committees as chair and also sits on a number of outside bodies.
His wife Helen, who is a personnel manager, will be the Deputy Lady Mayoress for the year.
Councillor Kelly said: “As a true Plymothian, it is a great honour and privilege to be able to represent my home city. I look forward to assisting Councillor Wendy Foster in our duties and I’m excited about meeting more of the people that make Plymouth such a special place to live, work and visit.”
Councillor Mrs Wendy Foster said: “I am very pleased that Councillor Kelly has agreed to be my Deputy Lord Mayor and I am sure that, together with his wife Helen, he will serve Plymouth well and be an asset to our great city.”
