Latest information on services during severe weather

Update Thursday 1 March

This information will be updated regularly to reflect the latest position. Severe weather is forecast for Thursday afternoon so this information could change.

REFUSE COLLECTIONS

Crews are out emptying bins today as usual but some roads, particularly in hilly areas of the city, will be impassable due to ice and compacted snow.

If your bin has not been collected please leave it out and crews will get to it as soon as possible.

ROADS

We continue to grit all main roads.

Crews are out again in the city centre today making sure the main pedestrian areas are gritted.

If grit bins in residential areas are empty please report through our website.

The majority of Council owned car parks have been gritted this morning.

CHELSON MEADOW AND WESTON MILL RECYCLING CENTRES

Both are currently open as usual.

SCHOOLS

Many Plymouth schools remain closed today. Check direct with your school and our school closures web page.

LIBRARIES

Devonport, Estover, North Prospect and West Park libraries are closed today.

Southway Library will close at 11.30am today due to the likelihood of bus services in the area being suspended.

Central, Crownhill, Devonport, Plympton, Plymstock, Southway and St Budeaux libraries were due to close at 8pm today but will now close at 6pm.

CEMETERIES AND CREMATORIA

Are currently open.

ROUGH SLEEPERS

We instigated our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) which aims to ensure all relevant agencies in Plymouth come together to provide a space where people who are rough sleeping can come indoors during cold and severe weather.

If you see anyone sleeping rough you can advise the Rough Sleeper Team by clicking here or by phoning 01752 255889
