Are you aged 14 – 24 and thinking about your career, or a parent, carer or teacher of someone in that age group? Why not come to Skills South West 2018, a free major two day regional event returning to Plymouth this month, to help you decide.
Sponsored by Plymouth City Council, Next Steps South West and UTC Plymouth, Skills South West is a free interactive event for 14-24-year olds.
Skills South West is the largest careers, jobs, skills and apprenticeship event in the region. The show is designed to bring young people across the region face-to-face with over 50 employers, training providers, colleges, universities and professional bodies, each offering hands-on and interactive activities as well as industry insight.
Aligned with the new government careers strategy, this event allows schools to provide students with access to a wider range of career and education pathways, including access to employers offering apprenticeships in key industry sectors.
Leader of Plymouth City Council, Councillor Tudor Evans, OBE, said: “Following the success of previous Skills South West events, we are delighted to welcome them back for this year’s show, which looks set to be the biggest and best yet.
“If you haven’t signed up already then I would urge young people, parents, carers and teachers to attend this fantastic event. There are also a few spaces left for exhibitors so please do get in touch with the organisers as well if you are a local employer or training provider.”
With an evening opening on Wednesday 13 March between 4.30pm-7pm specifically designed to welcome family groups, parents, individuals and groups of friends, Skills South West is an ideal opportunity for teachers, parents, carers and young people to discuss the world of opportunities available to students and young adults.
Skills South West is part of the Skills England series, organised by Prospects Events. Each year, Skills England attracts over 68,000 visitors across their 11 UK events. These bring in school/college leavers, teachers/career leaders, as well as parents, carers and families.
