Residents living in Ham are being asked to muck in and help sort out tired and drab areas in their neighbourhood.
Land at Tewkesbury Close, Buckfast Close and along Careswell Avenue could be getting a makeover to help make the area a more attractive place to live.
The Council, working with Plymouth Community Homes, has put forward some ideas such as planting trees and bulbs and painting railings, but they want to hear from the people who live there about any bright ideas that could be thrown into the mix.
Council leader Tudor Evans, who is also a ward councillor for Ham, said: “It’s really important that people who live here get involved and have their say about what they want to see to make their neighbourhood that bit better. “Even better, if they could also help us to carry out the work that would be great. As a cooperative council we want to make sure we do things with the community – not to the community.
“What’s more, it’s also a chance to get some fresh air, feel good about yourself and where you live and perhaps get to know your neighbours a little bit more.”
The consultation event will take place on Thursday 31July from 10am to 2pm at Tewkesbury Close. There will be activities to keep children entertained. Anyone who is interested, but can’t make the event should contact Rachel Warren by email Rachel.Warren@plymouth.gov.uk or ring 01752 307929 or Marissa Casson from Plymouth Community Homes on 0800 917 9499.
