Essential maintenance work on Crownhill flyover

Essential maintenance and structural improvement work will get under way on Crownhill flyover on Monday 8 February.

Our highways contractor Amey will be replacing the deck joints of the bridge, applying a waterproof membrane and resurfacing the road.

The work will be carried in three phases and each phase will take around two weeks. There will be lane closures during each phase to direct traffic away from areas where work is being carried out.

Phase one
Eastbound side of the road (the side heading towards Eggbuckland)
Lanes one and two will be closed and traffic will be filtered into lane three

Phase two
Westbound side of the road (the side heading towards Honicknowle)
Lanes one and two will be closed and traffic will be filtered into lane three
Traffic will not be able to access Meavy Way from the flyover during this phase – a diversion will be in place via Morshead Road, Tavistock Road (southbound), Manadon Roundabout and Tavistock Road (northbound). Signs will be in place along the route to guide drivers.

Phase three
Lane three will be closed on both sides of the road and traffic will be filtered into lanes one and two.

Pedestrian footways will remain open throughout the works.

Signs are being put up to warn motorists about the work and local residents and businesses are being notified by letter. If you have any queries please call the Amey watchman team on 668000 or email plymouth.watchman@amey.co.uk.
