Council leader Tudor Evans said: “As expected, the Queen’s Speech contained lots of the same old promises but little on actual delivery, and on the face of it, little for Plymouth.
“Children’s services and adult social care around the country are in crisis. Where the green paper on care? Where are the solutions we’ve been promised for so long?
“What is particularly disappointing is that once again the Government’s immediate answer to the crisis in social care is to pass the problem on to local tax payers through a 2 per cent precept on the council tax. The social care crisis has been allowed to go on far too long. What is needed is firm, decisive action now, not more of the same funding fudges and vague promises about a future fix.”
