Family fun days, bug hunts, pilates in the park and volunteer litter picks are among the events taking place during this month, culminating in a celebration event on 27 July for the opening of the new Central Park Café and tennis courts.
Throughout July, Plymouth City Council is celebrating Plymouth’s parks with local partners as part of a new Plymouth Parks Matter campaign, and also supporting Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Parks Week (12 – 21 July).
The flagship event at Central Park at the end of the month will include free activities, games, bouncy castle, music, dance, face painting and more. Try out Zumba, Pilates and yoga as well as tennis, football and more.
Councillor Sue Dann, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Scene for Plymouth City Council, said: “Plymouth Parks Matter is all about celebrating and enjoying the fantastic variety of parks and green spaces we have in Plymouth, including all our designated wildlife reserves.
“I’d encourage everyone in Plymouth to get involved, we’ve got so many facilities available and there’s some wonderful events happening to suit all tastes. The Central Park event on 27 July will be the culmination of a lot of hard work and a chance for everyone to celebrate.
“This is also an opportunity for families and communities to get out and enjoy this lovely weather in your local park.”
