Plymouth City Council is putting out an urgent appeal for the world’s superheroes to attend the jam-packed Lord Mayor’s Festival this weekend.
This year’s event has a ‘superheroes’ theme and everyone is being encouraged to go along dressed as their favourite – from Batman to Ant-Man, Wonder Woman to Thor.
The family fun day in Plymouth city centre on Saturday 28 May promises everything from magic, dance and theatre shows to a circus workshop, a toy and train fair and children’s activity zones.
There’s a special Superhero Trail, street entertainment, food stalls, a fancy dress competition and even the chance to help design Plymouth Argyle’s new kit.
New Lord Mayor Councillor Pauline Murphy said: “We’re hoping people visiting the city this year will think they’ve taken a wrong turn and ended up in Gotham.
“It’s going to be a fun-filled day with food stalls to satisfy even the Hulk, a great magic show to Marvel at and of course enough entertainment to keep even Lex Luthor happy.
“Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes, from the city’s hard working mums and dads and the brave men and women of our armed forces to the army of volunteers who help make days like this special.”
This year’s event takes place in several locations, including Civic and Guildhall Square, Place de Brest and the Armada Way piazza, with stalls located along New George Street.
Entertainment, including the Military Kids Choir and M-Pire Dance, kicks off on the piazza stage at 10am.
